Sportshall Athletics County Finals 2020:

On Tuesday 3rd March, our Year 5/6 boys’ sportshall athletics team travelled to Shrewsbury Sports Village for their county final. Having won their regional qualifier, they were representing the Telford & Wrekin Langley area. The competition consisted of six track events and six field events. All boys participated in both track and field events. Their team spirit was evident, with many teachers from other schools praising their support for others. Over the course of the afternoon, there were some exceptional performances and the boys put in an amazing level of commitment. When the final scores were read out Old Park had recorded a staggering 110 points and had finished in 1st place. This was a fantastic result with well over 100 schools entering initial qualifiers.

Well done boys! We’re all really proud of you!

Look out for our tag rugby finalists, who will play their county final on Tuesday 24th March.

So proud of this team tonight! Our Year 5/6 football team put in an amazing performance to win their quarter-final 2-1. It was a hard fought match against a quality side.

On Wednesday 22nd January, our Year 5/6 football team attended the second round of the Shropshire FA Plate at Shrewsbury Sports Village. Travelling in style, on our new school mini-bus, spirits were high. On arrival, there was a short warm-up before the action began. Some inspirational words from Mr Parton and Mr Hughes were ringing in the boys ears as they began their campaign. Within a minute, some exceptional team football lead to an opening goal. Throughout the night, the team played some excellent football and worked as a team.

In two qualifying groups - consisting of twelve matches - they have remained unbeaten and only conceded one single goal. As a result, the team has now qualified for a semi-final match against St George’s, Shrewsbury.

This was the start of a busy term for the team. They have a quarter-final match against Lawley as they continue the defence of their Telford & Wrekin Trophy. In addition to this, they will be hoping to emulate our Year 5/6 girls’ team from last year by qualifying for the Premier League Primary Stars Finals.

Look out for updates on our website and Twitter feed to find out how all of our sports teams are progressing.
